Overview
This doctoral programme was developed by the University of Latvia together with Daugavpils University and the RTU academies in Liepāja and Rēzekne. Its research-based course of study puts candidates to work inside ongoing academic, nationally or internationally significant research projects supervised by faculty, with an explicit focus on developing current research directions in education science and feeding new findings and methods back into practice. Alongside this, candidates are expected to present and publish their results in recognised journals, take part in joint doctoral seminars and visiting-professor sessions across faculties, and build experience through mobility and collaboration with universities and research organisations abroad. By completion, graduates are expected to be able to critically analyse pedagogical practice and education policy, lead multidisciplinary or international research teams, and publish findings in internationally cited journals.
