MA/MS in Diplomātija

The master's programme in diplomacy at the University of Latvia is taught in Latvian over four full-time semesters and carries 120 ECTS credits. It leads to a social sciences master's degree in diplomacy and is held in Riga, in the Latgale suburb area. The core of the programme consists of courses in diplomacy, foreign policy and international relations, where theoretical knowledge and practical skills carry equal weight. Its purpose is to prepare qualified professionals for work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including embassies and consulates abroad, at the Ministry of Defence and in other public institutions, in international institutions and in private-sector roles where diplomacy knowledge is needed. All 20 places for 2026/2027 are fee-paying, and two of them are co-financed. Annual fees are lower for citizens of the EU, the EEA and Switzerland than for citizens of other countries.
