MA/MS in Matemātika un datu zinātne

Mathematics and Data Science is an academic master's programme at the University of Latvia, taught in Latvian and studied full time on campus in Riga. It lasts four semesters, carries 120 ECTS credits and leads to a Master of Natural Sciences degree in mathematics. The programme covers three specialisations: Data Science, Technology Mathematics and Pure Mathematics. Together they give students knowledge of mathematics, statistics, industrial mathematics and data science, and the university presents the programme as a route to competing in the international labour market. Common compulsory courses cover applied algebra, nonlinear optimisation, graph and network optimisation algorithms, modern statistics and mathematical methods using the programming languages Python, R and Matlab. An academic placement is also provided. Places are offered both as state-funded and as fee-paying.
