This programme pairs creative, technological and managerial skill for work in culture and the creative industries, covering how art and creative businesses operate, digital and creative tools, running projects and organisations, innovation, and shaping cultural products. Teaching builds the ability to work in mixed-discipline teams, bring technology into creative work, and plan, carry out and run cultural and creative projects, through case-based lectures, practical seminars, independent study and creative workshops, partly in the university's own arts-technology lab with visits to organisations in the field. Learning outcomes include weighing the economic, political, legal, technological and social setting of an arts organisation before making management calls, applying financial theory and analysis tools alongside how financial statements are built, grasping how such organisations plan, produce, market, staff and distribute their output, and explaining how digitalisation and automation reshape staff behaviour. Students also learn to make evidence-based management decisions that fold in current and emerging technology, including statistics and data analytics used ethically, to lead teams across a global creative-industry setting, and to run such projects from idea to delivery.
