Overview

Air Traffic Control is a five-year programme from the Antanas Gustaitis' Aviation Institute, classified under aerospace engineering and leading to a Master of Engineering Sciences. It belongs to the wider field of flight management, which spans traffic control, route planning, flight safety and passenger service quality. Graduates learn to direct and regulate aircraft movements, keep airspace safe, maintain radio contact with crews, and solve engineering problems that draw on several disciplines. They are also taught to choose suitable engineering equipment and software, and to judge engineering work against ethical, legal, safety, environmental and commercial requirements. The programme names several routes after graduation, including air traffic controller with the national air navigation provider at Vilnius, Kaunas or Palanga, posts as a controller with the country's air force, coordination of flights at domestic aerodromes, and engineering or management jobs in transport and aviation companies.
