Overview
This two-year programme prepares specialists able to analyse the peculiarities and problems of how society functions at different levels, and to design, carry out and implement solutions for social problems using contemporary sociological theories and methods. Compulsory subjects, making up most of the programme alongside two research projects and a practice placement, cover trends in contemporary social theory, the methodology of social sciences, quantitative and qualitative research in sociology, the sociology and anthropology of gender, medical sociology and anthropology, and modern political sociology, with five further elective courses. Taught in Lithuanian and English, it builds the ability to identify social problems at both institutional and individual levels, process research data with analysis software, interpret and report sociological findings, and consult governmental, non-governmental and private organisations on human-resource development, organisational culture and communication between different groups.
