Overview
This 1.5-year master's programme trains legal compliance specialists for financial institutions, covering financial law and compliance management, investment and financial instruments law, tax law, and the prevention of money laundering alongside the EU's digital strategy and its personal data protection law. A dedicated Financial Law Laboratory and a course in behavioural finance and consumer protection build practical skills for addressing the challenges of digital transformation in finance, completed with a master's thesis.
Elective courses include bankruptcy and restructuring law, business crime, intellectual property law, mergers and acquisitions, and the legal regulation of cyber security. Learning outcomes include analysing and applying legislation and case law on financial institutions, investments, taxation, and consumer protection within national, EU, and international frameworks, and independently identifying regulatory-compliance problems arising from financial innovations and new technologies. Graduates, with or without a prior law degree, can work as lawyers in financial law at law enforcement agencies, banks, investment companies, and financial management firms.
