This two-year programme trains social workers to apply interventions grounded in social justice and human rights for empowerment, structural change, social inclusion and cohesion, with students choosing between two specialisations. It builds the ability to systemise critical and social-constructionism approaches to social-work theory, design and carry out human-rights-based research using quantitative and qualitative methods at micro, mezzo and macro levels, and justify ethically grounded, empowering interventions with individuals, families and groups in complex situations. Compulsory subjects cover social work theoretical models and paradigms, social criticism, intercultural and international communication, and equity and inclusion in social work, while specialised subjects range across social constructionism in practice, trauma-informed practice, family and systemic counselling, social inclusion in an ageing society, mental-health interventions, group therapy, community practice, and human-rights perspectives in social work, alongside two research modules and the final thesis. Teaching relies on individual and group projects, case studies, critical analysis of literature and documents, thematic debate and inquiry-based learning.
