This programme prepares speech and language therapists able to provide prevention, rehabilitation, assessment, education and counselling services for speech, language, communication and swallowing disorders across all ages, working individually and within interprofessional teams on the basis of interdisciplinary, evidence-based practice. Students learn to combine theoretical approaches from rehabilitation and education sciences, plan and coordinate mixed-methods research into speech and language therapy, model innovative therapy approaches grounded in the latest evidence and the needs of patients and relatives, and select and apply evidence-based assessment tools for diagnosing the causes and nature of these disorders. The curriculum also builds skills in counselling affected individuals and their families, upholding equal opportunity, human rights and data-protection principles, and leading interprofessional teams to initiate and coordinate service-improvement projects. Teaching uses individual and group projects, problem-solving tasks, role play, case studies, reflective diaries and research-based learning, with study activities organised around a personalised-learning approach that positions students as collaborating partners rather than passive users.
