Mandhu College's Bachelor of Information Technology is a three-year, six-semester degree worth 360 credit points, delivered entirely through the college's Virtual Campus. The curriculum moves from foundational computing, including operating systems, programming in languages such as Visual Basic .NET and C, and web technologies, through networking and e-commerce essentials, and on to database design and structured query language, culminating in an applied IT project in the final year.
Alongside the technical content, students pick up the planning, communication and problem-solving skills needed to work on real systems within an organisation, rather than coding in isolation. The course is aimed at students who want a broad, practice-oriented grounding in IT suited to the Maldivian job market, including software development, systems support, database administration and small-scale network management. Entry is open to Higher Secondary Education completers and holders of a related Level 4 qualification, while mature applicants can qualify through Mandhu College's MQA-approved preparation route combined with relevant work experience.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Entry requires completed Higher Secondary Education, a Level 4 qualification in a related field, or Mandhu College's Level 4 Foundation Study Programme for this route. Applicants aged 20 or over can instead qualify with an unrelated Level 4 qualification plus an MQA-approved University Preparation Programme, or with secondary school completion, 2 years of relevant work experience, and the same MQA-approved preparation programme (available at Mandhu College).
