Overview

This Digital Humanities track teaches students to approach culture, language, history or philosophy through digital methods, offering a systematic way of bringing information technology into humanities research. It prepares humanities-background students for a growing set of research and other roles that call for processing digital information, examining both the underlying theory and the effects on culture and society, and offers courses in collecting, analysing and visualising humanities data alongside practice with professional databases, scripting for programming, and statistical software. Past graduates have combined a humanities outlook with computational methods, as in one thesis that analysed Baltic trade history using visualisation applied to the Sound Toll registers.
