MA/MS in International Relations

This research track combines Modern History with International Relations and can also be taken as a specialisation within the Master's in History (research). It trains students to carry out independent academic research into recent developments in the two combined fields, covering relevant theoretical and methodological approaches alongside subjects including the history of cultural identity, the dynamics of European cooperation and integration, and international political economy. Students work in small groups under the supervision of researchers, and the work connects to research under way at Groningen's institute for the study of culture, known by its Dutch abbreviation ICOG, and at the N.W. Posthumus Institute.
