The three-year, collection-based full-time bachelor in child welfare qualifies graduates as child welfare workers (barnevernspedagog). Students learn to support children, young people and families in vulnerable life situations, both in child welfare services and elsewhere where support is needed. The programme combines theory and practice with a focus on childhood, family life and cooperation for the child's best interests.
It gives tools to create tailored services, with particular attention to Sami children's rights to language and culture. Because the programme is subject to a suitability assessment, applicants must meet the national requirement. Graduates work with children and families in child welfare and related services.
