Georgetown's EMDIA is an executive program covering diplomacy and international affairs, completed in a single year by working professionals from Qatar and the broader Middle East who want to deepen their command of foreign-policy practice. It grew out of a partnership between the Walsh School's diplomacy-studies institute, the Doha campus, and Qatar's foreign ministry, and stays centered on the strategic issues regional diplomats deal with directly.
Students complete ten three-credit modules spread across the year. Nine run on the Doha campus, each pairing two courses taught intensively over five days by visiting Georgetown faculty. The tenth is a capstone stay in Washington, D.C., combining five days of coursework with sessions alongside sitting policymakers and staff from international organizations.
EMDIA carries no financial aid, so participants self-fund or arrange outside support, though Qatari nationals can look to their employer or the Ministry of Education and Higher Education for help. Tuition is reviewed annually and excludes flights, housing, visas, and other travel costs tied to the Washington residency. The next Fall 2027 cohort opens for applications in January 2027.

Admission Requirements: Open to working practitioners from Qatar and the wider Middle East region; no published GPA or test-score minimums. Applications for the Fall 2027 cohort open January 10, 2027.
