MA/MS in Politics and International Relations

Politics and International Relations at Doha Institute for Graduate Studies sets out to train a generation of Arab political scientists able to produce knowledge from and for the region while engaging global theoretical debates on equal footing. The structure runs 24 core credit hours, a 3-credit interdisciplinary course, 3 credits of free electives, 3 or 6 credits of program electives, and a 9-credit thesis, matching coursework at international peer institutions while adding distinct Arab content. Seven stated learning outcomes run from understanding theoretical and methodological frameworks in political science and international relations through to designing original qualitative or quantitative research and communicating findings clearly in writing and speech. The program frames its graduates as either producers of scholarly political knowledge or practitioners able to apply that knowledge to decisions, with explicit attention to historical, cultural, and socioeconomic context across the Arab world.
