The Bachelor of Engineering in Robotics is a full-time honours degree offered by the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Nanyang Technological University. It is built for students who want a firm grounding in robotics and the engineering disciplines behind it, and it points graduates towards both research work and practical robotics roles in industry.
The curriculum is deliberately multidisciplinary. Courses draw on mechanical, electrical and computer engineering as well as mechatronics, with a strand devoted to artificial intelligence, so that students learn how machines are designed, controlled and made to act intelligently. Teaching methods pair theory with hands-on experience, which is intended to match what employers in a fast-moving field now expect.
The degree runs for four years. Students who perform very well in the first semester of Year 1 may be offered an accelerated track, which brings completion forward by one semester so that the degree takes seven semesters rather than eight. Applicants should check the subject prerequisites in mathematics and the sciences before applying.
