Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical and Electronic Engineering

This research PhD in electrical and electronic engineering at NTU can be taken full time or part time, with intakes in August and January. Candidates investigate a topic under a designated staff supervisor and hand in a thesis for examination. Requirements include passing examinations worth 18 Academic Units, which equals six courses of three AUs, plus any other courses the school or university prescribes. Students also take a qualifying examination and an oral examination on the thesis. Applicants may look through the research centres for areas that fit their interests, and selected candidates on some industrial projects can obtain scholarships or financial top-ups. Applicants from Singapore's autonomous universities need a first degree in a relevant subject with at least second class upper honours or Honours (Distinction); applicants from overseas universities need at least second class upper honours or an equivalent.
