Master of Arts

The Master of Arts at NTU's School of Humanities combines taught courses with a thesis on an approved topic. Students can study full time or part time, and they receive guidance from a supervisor and from other faculty whose research interests cover the school's disciplines. Graduate research degrees are offered in Art History, Chinese, English, Linguistics and Multilingual Studies, History and Philosophy. Study draws on global, regional and comparative viewpoints, mixes approaches from several fields, and pays attention to cultural awareness and the relevance of contemporary Asia. Interdisciplinary clusters such as Environmental Humanities and Medical Humanities link the disciplines together. Applicants should hold a bachelor's degree with at least Honours (Distinction) or an equivalent and be able to carry out research in the area they propose. Candidates are interviewed by the postgraduate coordinator of the subject area, and individual subject areas may add their own requirements.
