Master of Science in Applied Gerontology

This Asia-oriented programme in applied gerontology is interdisciplinary and is run by the School of Social Sciences at Nanyang Technological University. It gives advanced grounding in gerontology and prepares students for work with older adults in varied settings, to design policy for an ageing population, to lead, and to improve care and support services. Faculty come from medicine, the social sciences, communication, business, the arts and humanities and the biological sciences, so the curriculum cuts across disciplines. Sessions run on weekday evenings and Saturdays, which suits working professionals. Students can follow one of three pathways while taking the same courses in the same sessions: a full-time route usually completed in 1 year, a part-time route usually completed in 1.5 years, or a FlexiMasters route usually completed in 2 years. The pathways differ in how many courses are taken each trimester. From the August 2026 intake, Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents who qualify on the FlexiMasters route can receive SSG funding.
