Overview

Combining civil and environmental engineering at masters level, this degree trains students to plan bridges and buildings able to cope with the pressures of a changing climate and to evaluate the environmental consequences of construction schemes. Leadership and technical abilities developed along the way support a professional career. Staff who are active in consultancy and research lead the teaching. Students learn to create structures that respect the environment, using sustainable materials and advanced methods, and they are encouraged to balance resilience, expense and ecological responsibility. The Joint Board of Moderators accredits the course. Within the four-year route a placement year can be added before the final stage.
