Program details

Overview

This integrated masters route in mechanical engineering covers the design of machines, devices and systems, from everyday household products to heavy industrial equipment and medical technology. Students build a strong technical foundation, then extend it through a further year of advanced study that adds management and leadership capability to their engineering knowledge. Teaching is shared with staff who work inside the university's advanced engineering centre, so student projects often connect directly to live research. Practical assignments test problem-solving in realistic settings and give learners the confidence to tackle unfamiliar technical problems. Professional recognition from two engineering bodies confirms that the content meets established standards. The masters year is designed to prepare graduates for progression into senior technical and leadership roles across the sector.
