The Media and Professional Communication Certificate is a graduate-level credential delivered entirely online. It is designed for working adults who want stronger communication and leadership skills while staying in their jobs, taught by faculty with experience in several kinds of media organizations.
Students take four courses, one per term across fall, spring and two summer sessions, so the certificate can be finished in a single year. The courses cover crisis communication, communication in professional life, communication technology and a seminar on new media.
Finishing the certificate prepares graduates for leadership roles in public or private media organizations and can lead to further graduate study. The credits may also be applied toward the Master of Arts in communication at the university. A communication bachelor's degree is not required for admission.
