PGCert in Management Information Systems and Services

The Certificate in Informatics comes from Dominican University's School of Information Studies. It looks at how information and communication technologies affect individuals, organizations and society, and pairs technical skills with social analysis. Students currently enrolled in the MLIS, MSIM or MPS may take it, as may returning students who already hold a postgraduate degree and want a specialization. Each candidate works with a faculty advisor to design a plan of study, and the credits can be combined with Master of Professional Studies coursework. Completion requires fifteen graduate credit hours. The field connects to work such as web development, crisis information management and online community building. The School of Information Studies calls itself Chicago's only iSchool and belongs to the iSchools consortium; first library science courses date to the 1930s.
