BA/BS in Communication and Media Studies

This undergraduate degree prepares students for careers in which they direct communication for companies, government, non-profit groups and the arts. It pairs a base of writing and public speaking classes with applied, hands-on work. Students pick one of three tracks: organizational communication, art and performance, or media and design studies. Each track allows deeper skill building in the area that matches personal goals. The School of Communication emphasizes technical, interactive and digital media while keeping traditional practice and ethics in view. Graduates complete a portfolio of professional work and are ready for roles such as editor, reporter, photojournalist, researcher, copywriter or publicist. The school also offers a separate bachelor's degree that blends PR, advertising and applied communication for students drawn to those paths.
