BA/BS in History

This degree lets students explore courses spanning many parts of the globe while developing portable skills, awareness of other cultures and knowledge of the past. The department values both breadth and depth, and students may also center their studies on one theme or region. Along the way, students learn to investigate sources, interpret evidence and argue persuasively in writing and when speaking. The department contributes to several area-studies programs and the Honors Program as well. Prerequisites amount to two introductory history courses. Transfer applicants can write to Arts and Sciences Admissions for answers about admission and course mapping. Classes meet face to face on the Tallahassee main campus only, and the major is not offered via online or distance learning.
