Overview

This professional doctorate is aimed at educators who want to investigate curriculum, how people learn, how teachers are prepared, and the larger policies that shape schools. Students conduct research and examine these topics with a critical eye. Participants join a community in which university scholars work alongside practitioners and educational organizations. That network supports new ideas and leadership. Along the way, students look at issues from their own jobs and align their study with the careers they want. Admission to the fall term is rolling, though applicants who apply by mid-January qualify for review for tuition awards based on merit. Sending a general graduate exam or an analogies test score is allowed but not required. Candidates provide two recommendations, ideally one from a professor and one from a work supervisor, along with transcripts from each institution attended and a statement of purpose.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Two recommendations; transcripts from all institutions attended; statement of purpose; GRE or MAT optional.
