BA/BS in Biology, General

Learning about living systems through direct laboratory work, research and close mentoring from faculty defines this bachelor's degree. Students build a base in genetics, ecology, anatomy, physiology, environmental science and molecular biology. Classes are small and the laboratories are modern, conditions that help undergraduates strengthen critical thinking and scientific investigation. The campus sits close to big research centers, biotechnology employers and healthcare systems in the Chicago region, which leads to chances for internships and research experience. Career paths for graduates include biotechnology, education, environmental science, medicine-related fields and research. The program works well for people who enjoy fieldwork and bench science alike and who want practical exposure to the profession before they finish their degree. Its location in a major metropolitan area gives students many nearby places to apply what they learn.
