AA/AS in Drama/Theatre Arts and Stagecraft

The Associate of Arts in theatre is a transfer degree in the college's arts and humanities pathway, designed to lead into a Bachelor of Arts in theatre at a university. The sixty-hour plan blends the Texas core with specialized performance and production courses. Theatre-specific classes include stagecraft, script analysis, acting, theatre appreciation and four practicum courses that pair with the acting and stagecraft sequences. Two of the foundational courses are scheduled only in the fall, so students need to plan their first year carefully. Students also must satisfy state testing-readiness requirements. Because acceptance differs by school, learners should check with their destination university to see which courses it will accept toward its theatre degree. Practicum credits are taken alongside the main acting and stagecraft courses.
