Cert in Computer and Information Sciences, General

The Information Systems Technology Computer Programmer certificate focuses on writing software. Students learn programming fundamentals such as control flow, data structures, object-oriented design and exception handling, then move into database work with SQL, stored procedures and security. Later outcomes include building database-connected applications with C#, collections, LINQ and Entity Framework, and developing web applications that follow the MVC pattern. Students also practise use case modelling and entity relationship diagrams and take a larger project through the full development life cycle. The certificate counts toward the information technology electives of the related Information Systems Technology associate degree. Courses older than ten years are not accepted, and students are asked to check their advisement report and meet with a faculty advisor. The 2026-2027 Reynolds catalog gives the full requirements, and an advisor can help with planning.
