AA/AS in Drafting/Design Engineering Technologies/Technicians

This degree builds drafting skills that employers value in many countries. Those enrolled at Lamar learn to produce plans both on a drawing board and with computer-aided design software, and they work with several programs. Early lessons teach how lines, circles and arcs form the shapes behind every 2D or 3D model. Students then apply these ideas to buildings like homes, workplaces and classrooms, to piping, electrical, instrument and steel drawings for the petrochemical industry, and to civil work like property layouts, surveys, subdivisions and roads. Autodesk software is used, and many tools can be installed at home free of charge. To graduate, students complete sixty semester credit hours and need a C or better.
