Overview

Chemistry at Marian is offered as a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science, pairing demanding science with a liberal arts foundation. Graduates can pursue paths in science, health care, teaching, business and many other areas. Early courses such as General Chemistry lay the groundwork. Later study moves through the analytical, organic, physical and biochemical branches, with an emphasis on green chemistry principles. Students design and carry out lab experiments and analyze substances using modern instruments. The arts degree combines chemistry with subjects like writing, art, psychology and global studies, and it suits careers centered on communication and public engagement. The science degree is more technical and research-driven, with optional concentrations available in environmental science, chemical physics and bio-organic work. It prepares students for graduate study or for laboratory, industrial and health-related work. The program is run by the chemistry and physical sciences faculty.
