Anthropology studies humankind and what it means to be human, with attention to culture and the wide diversity of ideas and experiences around the globe. Majors also explore language use, remains of ancient societies and biological variation among people.
The discipline has four main subfields, cultural, biological, linguistic and archaeological, along with smaller areas such as forensic, medical, urban and environmental anthropology.
Majors build skills in observing participants directly, analyzing data and communicating across cultures. These abilities are in demand in teaching, museums, historic preservation, public health, forensic science, travel and hospitality, and business. The credential is a transfer associate degree, supported by a program mapper. Classes are hybrid or on campus. Prospective students can review the degree requirements and course descriptions linked from the program page, which also names the faculty and the campus locations where they work.
