AA/AS in Computer Systems Networking and Telecommunications

This applied degree trains computer and network technicians who set up and maintain systems, and who support users in person or remotely. Students get hands-on practice with hardware, operating systems, and networks. It is offered at Granite Falls and Jackson, and online. The four semesters move from operating systems, hardware, and introductory networking to routing, Windows server administration, virtualization, Linux, and wireless networking. Security is a thread throughout, with classes on information security, cybersecurity, and computer forensics. General education electives fill out each term. Accuplacer scores decide which math and English courses a student starts in. The catalog entry lists every required course with its credit value. Prospective students can use it to see how technical and general education courses are arranged, and they should confirm their course sequence with an advisor before registering.
