AA/AS in Accounting and Related Services

The accounting program is aimed at students pursuing transfer, career advancement, entrepreneurship or preparation for the CPA and CMA credentials. Faculty with professional experience teach both in-person and online sections, and tutoring supports coursework. Students learn to examine financial data, find discrepancies and report results to clients and coworkers. Classes include small business accounting, cost accounting, intermediate accounting, taxation of business entities, QuickBooks Online, governmental and nonprofit accounting and ethics. Learners also build time management and quantitative reasoning and become proficient with Excel for analysis and reporting. Students can use the department pages at Mission College to review program maps, see which classes are scheduled each term and contact faculty or advisors, which makes it easier to plan a realistic path toward their academic goals.
