AA/AS in Communication and Media Studies

Students in this associate pathway learn how people share ideas with one another at work, in groups, across cultures and in everyday conversation. The curriculum develops speaking and listening habits along with the ability to analyze communication problems. Because the skills transfer widely, graduates look toward jobs in marketing, public relations, education, media and business, or toward a bachelor's program elsewhere. Students taking online oral communication courses must give their major presentations live over Zoom, so they need dependable audio, a camera and a stable internet connection. Mission College describes the program as one that supports personal and professional growth, and the page also links to degree information and transfer pathways for interested students. Students can use the department pages at Mission College to review program maps, see which classes are scheduled each term and contact faculty or advisors, which makes it easier to plan a realistic path toward their academic goals.
