AA/AS in Dance

The Dance associate in arts is meant for students who plan to work as choreographers, teachers or performing artists. It treats dance as a performing art and as a social practice linked to education, health, cultural studies, history and movement science. The degree opens paths toward further study in dance education, advanced technique, choreography and performance. Entry-level jobs include private studios, charter schools and recreation programs, while the page cautions that performance careers are highly competitive. Course requirements change over time, so the college's published catalog is the place to confirm the current list before planning a path through the award. The program page also sets out the award type, owning school and subject area, followed by an overview, a career outlook section and a requirements section that points to the catalog.
