AA/AS in Dance

Dance at MiraCosta College is a performance-centered program with studios and a main stage theatre on the Oceanside campus. Students take classes that build technique, style and original creative work. The department presents regular events such as an informal studio showing and a fall concert with faculty choreography, giving students chances to perform for audiences. Students can pursue a certificate or an associate degree in dance, and some receive support from the Friends of Dance scholarship. Dance-related careers named by the department include choreographer, studio owner, educator, company manager, arts administrator, costume or lighting designer and professional dancer. Counselors can help map out a plan. The college has locations in Oceanside, Cardiff and Carlsbad, and students can request more information or speak with a counselor before they enroll, and they can also explore careers, look up courses in the catalog or learn about financial aid.
