BA/BS in Philosophy

The Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy invites students to take up large questions about values, thought and the world while building analytical writing and reasoning skills useful across many industries. Students explore ideas from different cultures and traditions in small classes where discussion and challenging assumptions are routine. Course examples include Philosophy Through Popular Culture, which applies philosophical methods to film, television and social media, and a course in moral theory. Two major maps, traditional and applied, outline the path by semester. The program suits graduate school preparation or a double major, and an Ethnic Studies minor can complement it. The program belongs to Mount Saint Mary's University in Los Angeles, which stresses small class sizes and approachable faculty. Prospective students can join information events, talk with an admission counselor, and review application requirements and deadlines before applying.
