PGCert in Data Science

Designed for doctoral students in the sociology and politics programs, this advanced certificate delivers training in modern quantitative methods, stressing computational, machine learning and experimental techniques. Students meet a broad set of analytical tools basic to data science and may deepen their skills in several through specialized advanced courses. At the center is the ability to match research designs to theoretically important scholarly questions. Most graduates emerge as experts at applying data science to social science problems. Those more interested in inventing new methods and becoming methodologists receive support through courses, close advising and contact with leading scholars from related fields. The certificate is offered through the Graduate School of Arts and Science.
