MA/MS in Classical and Ancient Studies

The Department of Classics awards the MA and PhD, and the master's track benefits from ties to many NYU centers and institutes, including ancient studies, Hellenic studies, art history, museum studies and religious studies. Students also benefit from an agreement with CUNY and Fordham that makes classics offerings at all three schools open to NYU students. The department has a close relationship with the Aquila Theatre Company, which is based in London and New York. The program suits students who want advanced study of the ancient Greek and Roman world, whether as preparation for doctoral work or for related careers. Prospective students can consult the university bulletin page for the full list of required courses, the structure of the degree and the application steps set by the school. Advisers in the department help students plan their courses, choose among available options and prepare for their next step after graduation.
