AA/AS in Biology, General

Biology at Northwest Vista College is a good fit for science majors and for students heading into health and allied health careers. The discipline begins with how scientists work and how scientific thought developed. Subjects covered include introductory chemistry, how cells are built and function, heredity, evolution, and how living things are grouped. The courses sit within the college's natural and physical sciences area, alongside chemistry, geology, kinesiology and physics. The program page connects to course descriptions and lists the people to contact, among them an administrative services specialist, the interim academic chair and the discipline coordinator, with office locations and phone numbers. Students can reach out to these contacts with questions about advising and course scheduling. Prospective students can use the program page to find contacts and next steps, and they should speak with an advisor to confirm how courses fit their degree plan and transfer goals.
