AA/AS in Chemistry

Chemistry at Northwest Vista College serves three groups: science majors, students preparing for allied health or nursing, and those outside the sciences. Nearly all the courses are transferable and suit students who later seek a Bachelor of Science or a pre-medical degree at a university. Science majors complete two semesters of general chemistry, two of organic chemistry and one of analytical chemistry. Nursing, allied health and non-science students take two introductory courses, the first stressing general chemistry and the second organic chemistry and biochemistry. Every lecture course has a matching laboratory where students practice and demonstrate the principles discussed in class. The department schedules daytime and evening sections, as well as a set of once-weekly lecture and lab sessions held on Fridays. The page also gives contact details for department staff.
