AA/AS in Computer Systems Networking and Telecommunications

Network and cloud architecture at Northwest Vista College trains students for employers that offer cloud computing services or run network infrastructure, whether virtual or physical. The emphasis is on routing, switching and firewalls, plus beginning shell scripting and load balancing. Learners work with cloud platforms such as OpenStack and Amazon Web Services and study ideas like infrastructure, platform and software delivered as services. The plan also addresses the basics of physical and information security needed to operate cloud platforms and applications safely. Practical experience is stressed: students set up, manage and troubleshoot cloud services on virtual servers running Linux and Windows. Credits can be applied toward a bachelor's degree at Western Governors University. Prospective students can use the program page to find contacts and next steps, and they should speak with an advisor to confirm how courses fit their degree plan and transfer goals.
