Program details
Overview
The mathematics associate of science at Odessa College gives students a strong base in quantitative analysis. It is meant for those who enjoy complex problems and careful detail and who may later work in analysis, engineering, computing or research. Courses range from pathway classes and college algebra through pre-calculus, a three-part calculus sequence, ordinary differential equations and linear algebra. Students work closely with faculty, use up-to-date learning technology and can take part in shared research. The program connects to a regional scholarship effort for mathematics students from underrepresented and low-income families. Graduates commonly continue toward careers such as business analyst, data analyst, statistician, teacher or scientist. Because mathematics underlies every STEM field, the courses also serve students majoring in engineering, science and computing.
