Program details
Overview
The engineering program at Odessa College gives students a starting point for a challenging technical career. It covers the broad foundation that later leads to specialities such as electrical, petroleum, civil and aeronautical work. The college presents engineering as a field for people who enjoy electronics, petroleum processing, constructing buildings and bridges, designing biodegradable products or finding ways to improve how a business runs. Analytical and technical thinking are central. Students can follow degree plans in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering within the department. The pathway is intended as lower-division preparation, after which learners usually continue toward a bachelor's degree at a university. Because the field is broad, early coursework concentrates on the shared technical groundwork rather than a single specialty.
