AA/AS in Architectural Sciences and Technology

The Architecture degree introduces students to the ideas, skills and habits needed for further study in architecture and related environmental design fields. Courses build critical thinking, design ability and visual communication, beginning with drawing and design visualization and an introduction to the profession. Students planning to enter a university professional program are encouraged to talk with a counselor about extra preparation, since requirements vary among schools. The degree combines core architecture courses with a restricted elective and general education, and the Cal-GETC pattern may be substituted for the local general education plan. A suggested plan of study lays out two years of semesters so that major and general education courses can be completed in sequence. Learners finish with a base of design theory and drawing practice that supports transfer or continued training.
