AA/AS in Communication Disorders Sciences and Services

This Associate in Science prepares students to work as speech-language pathology assistants. An assistant supports a licensed speech-language pathologist in the assessment and treatment of clients with communication disorders, which can affect infants, children, adults and older people. Students train to help with speech sounds, language, voice, fluency and related concerns. Work settings include schools, clinics and medical facilities. Places in the specialized assistant courses go only to students accepted into the program. Applicants must have passed the introductory communication disorders course with at least a C grade, or be enrolled in it when they apply, and must meet that standard to be admitted. Selection criteria and application steps are published on the college's speech-language pathology assistant web page, and counselors can also help.
