Cert in Social Work

The Social Services certificate is a short program for people who want to begin working in helping professions or test their interest in the field. It introduces the values behind social work and ways to assist people, households and neighborhoods. Students learn why economic and social fairness matter, and how to work respectfully with people from many backgrounds. The emphasis on fairness, equity and respect gives a base for entry-level roles in community and human service settings. The certificate can be completed in one year of full-time study, in person or online, with the West Campus as the home location. Many students use it to begin, then move on to the Social Services AAS, which opens more job options and allows continued study at a university. The program is eligible for Title IV aid, supports transfer, and offers military and veterans benefits and honors certification.
