Program details

Overview

San Antonio College offers a journalism pathway that treats news work as a multimedia craft. Students build skills in reporting, interviewing, photography, video, audio and editing, and they learn to use social media responsibly in a newsroom setting. The college has run student publications for roughly ninety-five years, and coursework feeds directly into that tradition. A first-semester introduction to mass communication leads to media writing, news photography and video production, with electives such as photography and radio or television announcing. Learners publish their assignments through the campus student media outlet, so classroom practice doubles as portfolio material. The program sits within the Public Policy and Student Development department and is aimed at students preparing to continue toward a four-year communication degree.
