AA/AS in Engineering, General

The Engineering program at San Antonio College gives students the general education, science and mathematics base that most university engineering programs expect during the first two years. It is built for transfer rather than direct employment. After completing the foundation, students can continue at a four-year university and specialize in fields such as the civil, electrical, mechanical or computer branches. Planning with an adviser helps match course choices to the receiving institution. Related career information on the page points to opportunities such as civil engineering technician and environmental technician work, as well as postsecondary teaching, which usually require further study beyond this stage. Because course requirements differ between receiving universities, students are advised to speak with an adviser early and to plan their math and science sequence around the school and engineering field they hope to enter.
